Santa at Vaughan Mills (Vaughan)

Family Tested

Santa is a happy camper!

2017: Santa is in his cabin until December 23.

Boy, this Santa knows how to have fun! He's welcoming the kids on his boat near his fishing cabin. Last time I visited, kids could fish with a magnet at the endo of a rod. Clever! And parents can take all the photos they want. Santa's cabin is against a large mural with a hydroplane flying over lake and mountain. It makes wonderful pictures. Note that they also offer to take your photo and a little video for free, accessible online.

Santa will be there until December 23, Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (with a few breaks). During the first hour of everyday, Santa is fine with having his picture taken with your furry pet. There usually is a very funny mailbox (with a fish mouth) accepting your kid's letter to Santa.

Now, a bit of history: this used to be a partnership with Bass Pro, hence the fishing theme. Eventually, Bass Pro decided to take their event inside their store. The shopping centre decided to maintain Santa's fishing cabin. Which means that you have to choose which Santa you want to see if you don't want to have to explain two real Santas to your child! (Click here to see photo of Santa's Wonderland in Bass Pro.) Otherwise, it is quite fun to visit Bass Pro. They're almost at par with Disney for all the attention to detail of their displays of stuffed animals (real animals, by the way).

Vaughan Mills includes over 270 stores: many outlets, factory stores and Winners (10 kids-only apparel stores); Build-A-Bear, Disney Store Outlet, Canada’s largest Toys R’ Us, Toys Toys Toys and Legoland Discovery Centre.
