Hidden treasure in Riverside

No wonder this little park is so lovely. It was designed by Janet Rosenberg and Studios who gave us Jamie Bell Adventure Playground in High Park and Franklin Children’s Garden in Toronto Islands!

Following a river theme, sinuous paths run around small patches of trees and tall grass (the perfect set up to circulate on a skateboard). It includes a great little playground with a splash pad, a few picnic tables and three fun sculptures of animals (squirrels holding a giant acorn, a gentle fox and a beaver sitting on its tail). To top it off, the playground is just around the corner from the funky Merchant of Green Coffee, another hidden gem in the neighbourhood. (See the photo gallery.)

I recently came back to Joel weeks park before my Banff National Park tour. Joel weeks park is situated in Toronto's new Rivertown community. It so welcoming and has an elegant style, with trees, and so impressive strolling and play area and splash pads.
