Now is a good time to visit the little airport! There's a new international children's festival at Harbourfront Centre on Victoria Day long-weekend! JUNIOR, May 19-20-21, 2018
Your best shot to see planes landing in this small airport is by the water in front of Little Norway Park. But don't get too excited. You won't see them very well nor for very long. It still is a cool destination to visit with little adventurors because of the two fun ways to explore the Billy Bishop terminal across the canal. You can either take the shortest FREE ferry ride to cross the channel. (It's only 130m wide!) or use the FREE pedestrian tunnel with moving walkways and one of Canada's longest escalator system! At the top of the last escalator, make sur to look up to see the real plane hanging from the ceiling. On the second floor, you'll find some displays about William (Billy) Bishop and William George Baker, two Canadian war heroes who began one of North America's first aviation charter companies, called Bishop-Baker Aeroplanes Ltd. They had a fleet of flying boat operating from Toronto Harbour.
Don't miss the giant lion in nearby Little Norway Park's playground, and the peculiar sculptures facing the CN Tower in Ireland Park.
