1, 2, 3… GO!
For children fascinated by anything on wheels, the GO train offers the ultimate experience of a real train journey, for a fraction of the cost of a regular train ride. Union Station, on Front Street, was a great starting point for a child's first ride on the GO train. Green and white signs led us to the ticket office. We got lucky, they gave my son a few gadgets to celebrate his initiation. (Ask if they have some when you show up!) Suburban and intercity trains were next to one another so we got to see imposing locomotives from up close. We sat on the GO train's second level and by a window facing south, to get a better view of Lake Ontario (we chose to go to Pickering, a 40-minute ride). Seats were very comfortable and each car was equipped with restrooms.
