Memories

When was the last time you saw a real frog? And a school of tiny fish? The intimate Whitchurch Conservation Area is a beautiful spot to enjoy such small joys of nature. From the parking lot, we strolled for five minutes on a trail before we reached a clearing. The pond was located down a small hill and we had to get closer to take it all in; it is beautiful! Tall trees and bushes on the other side of the water were reflected on the still pond's mirror-like surface. Everything was so quiet that we could hear the living creatures that surrounded us: the song of birds, the humming of insects and the funny "Daow" sound of a loud frog. As we got closer, the kids jumped on a thin strip a sandy shore behind a wild flower bush. They were not a big threat to the small quicksilver fish they tried to catch with their bare hands. Beware, the water is not tested.
