The circle of life

The Mount Pleasant Cemetery is far from being sinister. The setting is so pretty, it attracts walkers, joggers and cyclists. A great variety of trees can be found on the premises. During the fall, it becomes a great harvesting ground for young leaf collectors. Sculptures adorning numerous graves give the visit an interesting cultural quality. After reading for my son a few dates written on gravestones, I was able to discuss with him the random nature of death. Here, parents bid farewell to their child; there, a woman said good-bye to her husband, waiting for the time when she'll rejoin him; farther away, an entire family was buried a long time ago.
