How about a canoe excursion amidst water lilies and turtles, paddling through corridors of tall grass and bulrushes? Interested? Then, Wye Marsh may be just what you need. In July and August, you can reserve a seat on one of the seven-metre-long canoes that traverse the water of Wye Marsh. As my husband and son embarked on this one-hour adventure, I took off to the beautiful boardwalk spanning the marsh with my younger one. As we approached the wooden trail, we could hear trumpet sounds blowing high and strong. The noise came from spectacular white Trumpeter Swans, dozens of them, swimming through the channels. My happy girl greeted her dad and brother as they paddled underneath a bridge we had reached. I saw them long enough to see that my 6-year old could not contain his excitement when he caught a glimpse of some turtles between the water lilies, rocking the boat in a manner none of the other passengers appreciated!
