Looking at picture of Bruce Peninsula Park, you would not believe this is in Ontario! I did not know such turquoise waters existed here, a mere 4-hour-drive from Toronto. Indian Head Cove is the section of the park where you’ll find this piece of paradise. At the admission desk, ask them about Head of Trails parking lot (a 20-min. well-marked walk from Indian Cove). If you park in the main parking lot, Cyprus Lake Trail will lead you in 40 minutes to this favourite attraction. The Grotto is just a few minutes walk off Indian Cove. It is an impressive cave carved into the dolomite cliff you can admire from the edge. Accessing it is a bit harder but those who do are rewarded by a turquoise patch of light under the dark water of the grotto (the result of the sun shining through a hole in the underwater wall).
When we visited, we chose to stay three nights in Tobermory. We spent two days in the national park and loved every minute of it. We also took a day to visit the Fathom Five National Marine Park (catching a cruise off Little Tub harbour in Tobermory). Read our TIPS about a Tobermory getaway, with photo gallery.
