Before it underwent massive renovations, Chinguacousy Park already had everything! Animals? Check. Pond? Yep. Splash pool? Got it. Mini golf? Skateboarding pipe? Ski hill? Yes, yes and yes. Add a greenhouse, tennis courts, a playground, paddle boat rental and a couple of ambitious events and you've got a really dynamic municipal park indeed! it had everything... but it looked a bit outdated. I just visited it and they've completely revamped the whole place. Their new splash pad is one of the best I've seen in the GTA outside of a water park, and it's FREE! (And weather permitting, open on weekends until mid-September.) Their new skatepark is fantastic. Which means older siblings (over 10 years old) can skate while you accompany the younger ones in the splash pad. The new building by the pond is gorgeous, with a vast patio overlooking the water (that's where you can rent a paddle boat) and a small concession selling drinks and snacks. They now offer little train rides for $3. The mini golf and the animal dens are much improved. The park is big but you can still walk from one attraction to the next. First time we went, we parked in the south lot off Central Park Drive and were seduced right away by the weeping willows throwing their shade over ducks on the sandy beach. A crane was standing by. Right next to it, we saw several pens with farm animals. Following the road back to the centre of the park is the mini golf, splash pool and a playground (also brand new). You can rent paddle boats to circulate on both sections of the pond. A slope for bikes is located closer to the small ski hill where you’ll find the skatepark.
