One of the best ways to enjoy the clear water of Georgian Bay is to visit the beaches in beautiful Awenda Provincial Park. The first beach you encounter, a short walk from the first and second parking lots, was my young explorers' favourite, with gulls resting on rocks sitting above the water, and small pebbles nestled in the fine sand. The second beach is a stone’s throw away from the first beach. Last time we visited it, the water was so low that what used to be a narrow stretch of pebbles had turned into a sea of rocks, great for imaginative play! Many people use their bikes along the wide and well-groomed Beach Trail to reach the third beach (a half-hour walk from the second parking lot). Located in a small tree-sheltered bay, this beach is very popular because of its emerald water and perfect sand. A 10-minute walk brings you to the fourth beach, for a completely different panorama that embraces a wide view of Georgian Bay. Very few people choose to do the extra walking. When we visited, we felt like we owned the sandy beach.
