Playground, farm, pool? Bronte Creek offers the perfect trio, with nature trails as a bonus. But first, the pool!
Located near parking lot D, it spreads over a 1.8-acre area, which means an adult must walk 500 steps to go around it! It is fabulous for kids, no more than two metres deep in the middle, more than half its area is like a gigantic wading pool where little swimmers can frolic. Naturally heated, it is quite cool in the morning so, until it warms up in the afternoon, I recommend you go for a hike around Spruce Lane Farm (accessible from parking lot F). Our whole family enjoyed the Half Moon trail. It offers a two-kilometre walk, is bordered with wildflowers and old trees of unusual shapes and runs along the cliff by Bronte Creek at some points.
You can quickly visit the farm and then drive to parking lot C for some dry fun in the super play barn (with plenty of small animals to see nearby): hanging bridges, tunnels, large tires to climb on, second storey platform to jump into big cushions on the lower floor. (The play barn is open year-round so you can combine this with some skating and tobogganing in the winter.)
