2017: Monarch & Migrants Weekend at Presqu'ile Provincial Park is on, Saturday September 2 and Sunday September 3!
If you miss the Monarch and Migrants Weekend, chances are you'll still see some of the orange butterflies around the lighhouse the following week. Presqu’ile Provincial Park offers so many little worlds to discover that it makes for the perfect family day trip with young explorers. Last time we visited, we started with a walk through Owen Point Trail and its corridors framed by 2-metre tall grass before reaching lookout points overlooking the lake, with shorebirds foraging the sand. We then had a gorgeous drive along the waterfront to get to the lighthouse and its small interpretive centre (including a model of a shipwreck). It was too cold to enjoy the 2-km long and wide beach when we visited so we preferred to explore the Marsh Boardwalk where we felt like we were gliding amidst the tall grass. The 1-km loop ended in a cool old forest with weird-shaped trees. Ask for a map at the gate! Bring a picnic! Take the bathing suits (just in case). Enjoy!
