Drop-in centres vary in size, activities and members' involvement. Yet, all offer an opportunity for preschoolers and parents or caregivers to interact with others and enjoy informal playtime. Kids also love to play with toys different from those at home. In most drop-ins I have visited, there was a kindergarten feeling to the place; from the layout of the room with craft and snack tables, to an array of well categorised toys. Most mornings, there's a circle time for singing or story telling. A healthy snack is usually provided. The best way to find a drop-in centre in your neighbourhood is to consult the Ontario Early Years Centres section in the Ministry of Children and Youth Services' website (on the left-hand side of the menu).
