Schedule / hours: 2017: The Spring Egg Fun Day is always on the Sunday before Easter, usually from 12 noon to 3 p.m. The Easter Traditions activities are usually offered on a few consecutive weekends around Easter time, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. (Note that they offer drop-in activities during the March Break, from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.)

Website: www.toronto.caNearby restaurants: • The Grenadier family restaurant includes a huge outdoor patio overlooking the manicured part of High Park which leads down to the gardens and the path along Grenadier Pond. It offers a wide selection of decent food options. It’s in the middle of the park, a 10-min. walk from Colborne Lodge.
While you are there: • Once you're done, you can go and enjoy High Park's other attractions: the amazing playground and the animal pens. Note that it would take you 10 minutes to walk to Grenadier Restaurant’s parking lot, then 10 more minutes to go down Deer Pen Road to walk by the animals to get to the playground. To my knowledge, there’s no shortcut from Colborne Lodge to High Park’s great playground.

Easter traditions
Colborne Lodge was built in 1837 and still contains many of the original artefacts. My favourite time of the year to visit it is around Easter time, when they offer the Easter Traditions activities on a few consecutive weekends. The event includes a tour of the house, egg dyeing in the historic kitchen, and a game to spot hidden eggs around the house. On the Sunday one week before Easter, they usually offer the Spring Egg Fun Day. The event varies from one year to the next, depending on the volunteers involved. You can always count on egg dyeing in the lodge's kitchen (for a small extra fee), and chocolate egg hunts divided by age group in and around the Children's Garden by the lodge.
