Elora Quarry Conservation Area (Elora)

Old-fashioned hole

This one offer a unique setting. With the passing years, a basin has formed at the bottom of Elora Quarry. On hot summer days, there's nothing like dipping into this water fed by pure springs. To access the quarry, you go down to a small beach offering an excellent view of the 12-metre-high walls surrounding the body of water. Seen from the beach, the panorama is unique. (Bad timing for my camera's battery to die on me!) On the other side of the beach runs the Grand River where we noticed people fishing. When we visited, there was the bonus of a manual water pump still in working order on the beach. Wonder if it's still there. My son had a blast with it.
