Beachway Park (Burlington)

Sandbar is open

Beachway Park is part of the sandbar linking Burlington to Hamilton. It ends at the Burlington Canal, first opened in 1826 to provide Hamilton Harbour with navigable access to the Atlantic Ocean. We found a beach pavilion with changing rooms and outdoor showers and artsy wall adorned with a modern mosaic. It was surrounded by tall grass and trees. The water was quite shallow. The kids could run out over 20 metres without having water above the waist. A minus for serious swimmers, a major plus for kids who want to play tag!
