Splash Island is so much fun that it could become the main reason families of young children go to the zoo (a very good reason to get the Toronto Zoo family membership!). It is located within the Zellers Discovery Zone. The spray pad is simply gorgeous. The giant animals seem to be popping out of the water. Kids run from the lake to the wetlands, the river (with water slides), and back to the ocean with whales and polar bear. All of these generously spraying us when we least expect it. The Kids Zoo's entrance is near the water games. It is jam-packed with things to do and (real) animals to see, including a two-storey tree, viewing domes to watch prairie dogs, giant turtle shells to get into. Then there's adjacent Waterslide Theatre with daily encounters with animals.
