It was not with a light heart that I watched my assertive little boy drag his huge tube for the first time, way up to the launching board of the Whirl Winds. He was so thrilled with his ride that he could not wait to get back in the line-up to do it again. Except for the Whirl Winds in which adventurers measuring 40 to 48 inches tall can go (wearing a life jacket), all the 16 water slides require a minimum height of 48 inches. The Barracuda Blaster ends up with a twist around the vertical walls of a giant bowl before being flushed into the Lazy River. All the kids like the Pumphouse at the heart of the water park. It is full of surprising water sprays and topped by a gigantic pail that gradually fills with 1,000 litres of water dropping on delighted children every 5 minutes. There's also the Lazy River (for 40 inches and over) and the large wave pool with lounge chairs. For the little ones, there's Splash Island Waterways, with an entertaining wading pool and mini water slides.

After years of doing all kinds of outings with my children, I can assure you the secret to a perfect outing lies in the details, not the destination.
