Fun in the pit

The large playground in the south part of the great multi-purpose Dufferin Grove Park is surrounded by a split-rail fence (much prettier than the usual wire fence). This is where you'll find the biggest sandpit in the whole city! Complete with running water (last time I checked in 2011), garden shovels and long logs to be used by the young engineers. Kids really dig this one (I know, that one was easy). They build labyrinths of water streams and bridges; they create mini ponds. You might want to bring a change of clothes for your kids. The playground includes a wading pool.

After years of doing all kinds of outings with my children, I can assure you the secret to a perfect outing lies in the details, not the destination.
