On my wish list of places to visit

The 2014 Etobicoke-Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade is on Saturday December 6 at 10 a.m.

I've only seen Lakeshore Santa Claus Parade on television and on their photo gallery. The floats were not as ambitious as in the major downtown Toronto event but I thought they were quite cute and there's lots of room to see them. You can combine this outing with a visit to the Skating Trail within Colonel Samuel Smith Park, a unique 8-shape iced trail which opens on November 23, 2013 (note that they don't rent skates at this location).

The parade starts at Dwight Avenue and Lake Shore Blvd. West. It runs westbound along Lake Shore Blvd. to Thirty Sixth Street (3.3 kms altogether).

After years of doing all kinds of outings with my children, I can assure you the secret to a perfect outing lies in the details, not the destination.
