Crazy for ceramics!

Ceramic studios: Great places to create personalized gifts for Christmas!

First time we visited this place, my budding artist was smitten with a true replica of a mouse, while her older brother opted for a monster truck-shaped piggy-bank. As for me, I swayed between a cake and cone-shaped box. It took us a good half-hour to select a piece, decide on colours and wait for the assistant to bring it all to our work table. My kids were told that they had to limit their colour selection to four, while adults can use as many as they want. Highly focused, my 7-year old meticulously painted away, while my young daughter embarked on a 15-minute splash that left her mouse (and herself) covered in (washable) paint. While she was delighted with her work, I must admit the end result was not pretty and she eventually insisted on painting it all over again.

The pieces are then glazed, fired and ready in five working days. The studio features finished pieces in their large windows. Before returning for pick-up, I suggest you call to make sure that your kids' artwork is in display. They will be so proud! (Click here for suggestions of ways to decorate a mug at the ceramic studio!)
