Downtown farm

Cows, goats, horses, sheep, large pigs, hens, roosters, geese and large turkeys: All this in the heart of the city! I personally love the turn-of-the-century atmosphere and the beautiful flowers of this gently steeped setting, with a path that brings us to a natural pond. In the late spring, kids might get the chance to glimpse a cute newborn. Riverdale Farm often offers demonstrations in the barn and there's normally a play area in the Meeting House. In the summer, bring your kid's bathing suit to take advantage of the wading pool in the adjacent park. In the winter, there is great tobogganing down the Riverdale Park West, a five-minute walk down Carlton Street.

After years of doing all kinds of outings with my children, I can assure you the secret to a perfect outing lies in the details, not the destination.
