No other painters have better depicted Canadian nature than the Group of Seven and this museum holds more than 2,000 of their masterpieces. Wide windows, framing the same nature artists have captured, are another reason to appreciate the place, especially during the fall. A fun way to visit McMichael Canadian Art Collection with kids is to select a theme (snow, animals, children) and have them look for it in the paintings. This treasure hunt may lead to cries of excitement when they spot their theme but galleries are not churches after all! I must add that when he was a toddler, my boy's favourite part of the museum was the staircase leading to the second level (I went with the flow). A wide path lined with small trails runs outside the building. Note that Family Sundays, offering more activities, are held on the second Sunday of the month and offer the best time to visit with kids.
