On my wish list of places to visit
There used to be a huge multicultural festival called Caravan in Toronto but it doesn't exist anymore. If you feel like a trip around the World in one day with your kids you can now turn to Carabram in Brampton or Carrassauga in Mississauga where the two annual festivals are going strong. We visited Carabram in Brampton, but judging from the info on Carassauga's website, you can pretty much expect the same experience at both events. They both last three days, include between 15 to 20 pavilions and provide free transportation between pavilions. Most importantly, at both events, you get a passport to stamp at each "country" you visit. Kids just love this. At Carabram, most pavilions were less than a 10-minute drive apart. In "Hawaii", the tiny dancers were adorable; the market was really lively in the "Philippines"; displays were equally colourful in "Pakistan" and in the "Caribbean".
