Funky town

Located just west of Spadina's Chinatown is Kensington Market, the funkiest area in Toronto. Such an eclectic mix is hard to describe. On Augusta, you'll find Urban Herbivore restaurant sitting next to the Fat Burritos and the Hungary Thaï (not a typo). You'll want to check the Blue Banana Market located further north on Augusta. The huge place has the feeling of a neatly laid-out Moroccan souk. Most of the stretch on Kensington Avenue, south of St. Andrews, is chock-full of vintage clothing stores with candy-colour façades. The best of the rest includes bakeries, chocolate shop, cheese store, nut importer, bargain stores, a little playground in Bellevue Square Park by Augusta Avenue and swing chairs inside the Kensington Café (last time I checked) at the corner of Balwin and Kensington Avenue.
