What a feast!

Vaisakhi in Little India is on April 30, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

There's nothing like walking along Little India (the strip of Gerrard Street east of Coxwell) on a warm summer night. Indian music bursts from welcoming open-door shops stocked with golden gods, wood carvings and jewels. Women are lovely in their saris, men look sharp in their crisp shirts and the whole street is lit in a festive way. Street vendors offer exotic food: sugar cane juice mixed with lime, coconut milk directly from freshly cut shells, fried pastries, roasted corn on the cob. Allow a small budget for cheap bracelets if you're visiting with a little princess. You can find some for 10 cents a piece! Definitely a great place to take visiting family or friends.

The Vaisakhi Celebration in the spring (usually end of April) is also a great time to visit Little India.
