A leap of imagination

Framed by a cluster of corporate and municipal buildings lies the surprising Mel Lastman Square. Past the original silhouettes of dancers who seem frozen in the midst of a leap, you can follow a long stream into a vast reflecting pool. In the winter, it turns into a large artificial ice rink. The square includes a stage and it is adjacent to a majestic public library, the Douglas Snow Aquatic Centre and the Toronto Centre for the Arts venue. The movie theatre Empire Empress Walk 10 is right across the street. Among other events, Mel Lastman Square hosts music performances, multicultural festivals, farmers markets and Canada Day's fireworks.
