As seen on Star Trek

City Hall's building still amazes after all these years. Designed by Finnish architect Viljo Revell in 1965, it was featured in a few Star Trek episodes as well as other science fiction movies. Kids love to grab something from the chip trucks along Queen Street and hang by the vast reflecting pool with large fountain, which turns into one of the best artificial ice rinks in town in the winter. The square includes a nice playground on the west side of City Hall, open to the public when not in use by a local daycare. Among other family events, Nathan Phillips Square hosts the Cavalcade of Lights and WinterCity. Also worth mentioning: outdoor art exhibitions, music performances, farmers markets and the New Year's Eve bash.
