Out of sight but not to be missed, the Underpass Park is a fantastic attraction located just west of the Don Valley, south of King Street East, and run through by Lower River Street. On the east side, it features the very cool skatepark for teens and young daredevils, with street scape elements and two basketball half-courts. On the west side, you'll find one of Toronto's most original urban playgrounds, with playful climbing structures, teeter-totter and swings, and 4-square and hopscotch, with plenty of space to run.Bring coloured chalks for your budding artists! At night, coloured lights reveal the interesting architectural detail of the underpass. Even better, the Friends of the Pan Am Path have just commissioned artists to create gorgeous murals on the pillars under the bridge. Click herefor a photo gallery of the making-of the murals!
The Underpass Park is on the way to Corktown Common (unfortunately closed until August 31, 2015 due to the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games). This is another waterfront development success story, offering a vast space beautifully landscaped and including another playground and a great splash pad!
