Just add hot chocolate!
The Skating Oval Rink at Shops at Don Mills is a cute outdoor skating trail running around a large oval patch of artifical grass. It is set in the middle of a cluster of shops organized as an outdoor urban shopping centre. The Skating Oval comes with skates rental and sharpening services. In 2016, they're also added a DJ night on Friday nights. The goal is obviously to attract customers but, thanks to free parking, anyone can take advantage of this little winter oasis. It is conveniently flanked by shops selling hot chocolate, coffee and tea as well as yummy treats. (In the summer, families have another reason to enjoy the site: a gorgeous fountain/wading pad located near the grass section, combined with ice cream from the nearby gelato shop.)
For your nformation, the 35-foot clock tower with small houses bursting out is Super Nova by artist/author Douglas Coupland (the one who coined the term "Generation X" in 1991 with his novel Generation X: Tales for an Accelerated Culture).
