Wallace Emerson Centre (Toronto)

Hidden treasure

The area is busy with stores. Not a place where you would expect to find a skatepark. But, there it is, behind the Wallace Emerson Community Centre. When I visited the site, daredevils were riding their BMX bikes with skill. Encouraged by the adult (me) watching, they gave their best shots. This park was actually built with BMX bikes in mind but the young bikers confirmed to me that kids also come with skateboards. There's a great playground surrounded by trees and the community centre includes an indoor pool, which younger siblings could enjoy while the oldest indulge in their extreme sport. You'd have to consult the city's website for the pool's schedule.
