Shell Park (Oakville)

Family Tested

In a nutshell?

This is my favourite skatepark, strictly from an esthetic point of view (I can feel my son rolling his eyes at that one!). The place obviously belongs to the skaters. I love the fact that the City of Oakville allowed colourful graffiti to blossom on the concrete instead of covering them up with grey paint as soon as they appear. Let's hope nobody changes that. The skatepark is contained in a large basin bordered by a large concrete sidewalk. When standing on it, you glimpse the whole skatepark, with plenty of trees in the background. It is nicely laid-out with slopes, quarter-pipes and ramps. The skate section is located on the edge of a small forest with a trail and next to a playground and a lovely garden. It is a perfect spot for a picnic while you and younger siblings wait for your skater to throw in the towel.
