17 is the new 10!
My daughter turned 17 and choose to do a sleepover with 10 girls at our house. She decided to go for a Harry Potter theme, 17 year-old being the last year one spends at Hogwarts, and she and her friends being the kind of girls who attend ComiCon events.
Their plan was to run the full series of Harry Potter movies for anyone to watch when they were not playing in the park or jumping on our trampoline and stuffing themselves with sweets resembling those mentioned in the books, frogs, spiders, mixed jelly beans. (A wild party, this was not!)
When I realized she was not going to push the theme further, I went on Pinterest and got a few good ideas. My daughter wanted to play it "cool" but I knew that any detail adding to a theme party is fun, regardless of the age.
While they were upstairs, I prepare a bunch of "Golden Snitches". I wrote a message on our main bathroom's mirror, and another on the toilet of the second bathroom. When one of the girls found out the first message, I heard her run to the others to promt them to come to the bathroom and see. ("What? Did you do a #2?", candidly asked the clown of the gang.) They rushed to the first bathroom, then went straight to the second one, suspecting there would be more, and all applauded with delight.
Mission accomplished!
(TIP: To create the Golden Snitches, I used Ferrero chocolates, took out the labels and used a pin to punch little holes to insert white feathers.)
