A kids favourite is greasy spoon Wimpy's Diner with booths and lots of things from the 50's to watch on the walls (443 Danforth Avenue, less than 5-minute walk west on Danforth).
While you are there: • Along Danforth Avenue from Pape to Broadview, you'll find plenty of stores selling clothes, shoes, home accessories as well as Toronto's biggest vegetarian and natural food market The Big Carrot (348 Danforth Avenue).
• Kids really (really!) love to drop by at scrumptious candy store Suckers Candy Co. (450 Danforth Avenue, a 3-minute walk west). My familie's favourite are the honey balls at Athena Bakery (598 Danforth).

A five-minute walk from either Pape or Chester subway stations, south of Danforth (between Carlaw and Logan), is lovely Withrow Park filled with mature trees. It includes a large wading pool by a great playground and tennis courts. A bit further south is another playground amidst big trees. Down the hill, you'll find an off-leash dogs park.
Withrow Park is the perfect setting for two great events: Dusk Dances and outdoor summer theatre (Shakespeare plays presented by Driftwood Theatre in the last few years). Plus, it is located in a posh neighbourhood with many boutiques and restaurants located along Danforth.
