During the Toronto Doors Open event in early June, I had the chance to visit Daniels Spectrum and discovered the fantastic playground in Regent Park across the street. It wasn't officially open at the time but families had already made their way around the yellow tape.
I returned on the evening before the official launch on June 21. Everything was ready. The place was still and pretty. I could easily picture young teenagers on the swings on warm summer nights, quietly chatting in the peaceful setting. The next day, the site was lively with a joyful crowd, giving us a taste of what Regent Park will do for the community from now on.
The vast plaza with stairs reminds me of the Place des Spectacles in Montréal (another urban succes story) and I know for a fact that this kind of space can become a vibrant hub for everyone's enjoyment. My visit of Daniels Spectrum during Doors Open convinced me the community will know exactly what to do with such a wonderful space.
