Tips for parents with young kids:
Kids love to explore nooks and crannies. Don’t underestimate the appeal of staircases, ramps, underground corridors in any building you’re visiting. Let them push the bottoms in elevators, check the view from the upper floors and open the doors to be the first to discover what’s on the other side.
Any visit to a museum can be transformed into an I Spy game. Ask them to find something specific such as the kids represented in the paintings in an art museum. By checking the museum’s website prior to your visit, you’ll be able to find a few things to ask the kids to look for.
Stick to the age recommended by the producer of a show. Think about it. They want your money and they benefit from attracting the broadest audience possible. If they say the show is for kids 5 years and older, it’s because they know that toddlers won’t enjoy it as you’d want them to, and chances are you’ll have to leave the show before the end, restless child in tow. Save your money for later!
