One of Toronto's most challenging slopes sits at Riverdale Park East (on the east side of the Don Valley Parkway). It is quite broad, steep and very long. It offers a unique and stunning view of downtown Toronto's skyline. In the winter, when the sunset throws lovely shades of pink and yellow and the icy bits of the slope reflect the light, it is magical. Local teenagers like to do night tobogganing (when the city lights are gorgeous). Speaking of ice, hang on to your hats if the slopes are even just slightly icy! You'll fly down, and it will become almost impossible to climb back up. For older kids with their friends, it could add to the fun.
If you intend to visit with younger kids, I suggest you go to the section of the park with a much gentler slope, located across from Rooster Coffee House (479 Broadview), a very cool café with funky vibe, great hot chocolates and yummy snacks. Note that if you want to keep an eye on kids of different age groups, Riverdale Park West, on the other side of the parkway is a better choice.Â
